Benni the Koala is becoming quite the adventurer! At just over nine months old, he's starting to leave Mum Mia to venture into the big wide world.
Keeper Calinda says, "Benni is practicing to become a ‘big' koala. He has been going down trees head first, rather than backing-down in the usual style of koalas. He's incredibly cute and comical to watch."
Benni is sweet natured like his mum, but he takes after his Dad Hamish in that his colouring has a caramel tinge. Mia and Benni share their home with another female Marla who is happy for Benni to have a piggy-back with her.
Benni is now feeding on 80% leaves, but will have a little drink from Mum now and again. Look out for Benni when you visit - he still spends a lot of time asleep cuddling with Mum, but in the afternoons you might be lucky to see him out on his next adventure!
