Melbourne Zoo offers engaging Middle Years programs that encourage students to discover and explore the natural world, get up close to our animals, and take positive action for wildlife.
The programs aim to facilitate student-centred inquiry about our wildlife to develop a deeper understanding of the world in which we live.
Year 5 - Year 8
Observing animals around the zoo as well as close up animal encounters allows students to investigate the concept of classification, both scientific and practical, and apply their understandings to solve a challenging problem.
This program is designed to assist schools in their journey in becoming a Sustainable School. Once completed, this program allows the school to finalise a number of items of the ResourceSmart AuSSI Vic Biodiversity Module check list.
