Melbourne Zoo's Asian Elephants all love to paint, with Bong Su and Mek Kapah our most experienced artists. This unforgettable behind-the-scenes experience allows you to meet one of our elephants, select your favourite colours, and watch the elephant create your own personal masterpiece. Take home your personalised elephant painting as a memento of this truly unique experience. Paintings are also available in the Zoo shops for $295. All proceeds benefit elephant conservation in the wild.

Elephant Close Up

This is your passport to enter the ‘behind the scenes' areas of our Elephant enclosure at Melbourne Zoo. You will be given an insightful tour of the ‘off limits' zones and learn about what it takes to look after these enormous, graceful Asian Elephants. Keepers will also talk about Zoos Victoria's role in the conservation of these amazing animals. You will even get to meet one of our Elephants and maybe treat them with a gift and a pat.

Elephant Introductions

Our elephants love meeting new people. During the elephant introduction you can get up close and personal with one of our gentle Asian Elephants and go behind-the-scenes into the cow barn. If it's bath time you can help the keepers to give your elephant a good scrub.
