Wild Garden Weekend

Join us to celebrate Melbourne Zoo’s ‘Wild Garden Weekend’ on 12 & 13 November and experience some of the best wildlife gardens in town. The weekend’s activities will be primarily located along the zoo’s Main Drive and feature plenty of garden tips and chance for you to meet some of our local bugs.

Backyard Bugs
Get up close with a selection of critters that share our homes. Meet the good, the bad, and the beautiful of the backyard bug world. Learn which are your friends, those that are you enemies, and which ones are just passing through.
Natural pest deterrents will also be showcased, to help you choose who will share your yard.

Wild Gardens
Meet our garden experts as our Zoo Horticulturalists will be on hand to provide gardening tips and answer any questions you may have on your own gardening needs.
Visit the Japanese Garden and see the garden’s spring display including the majestic plum blossom trees. Get ideas for gardening in small spaces and learn about the craft of bamboo splitting. There will be activities for the entire family: children will be able to join in some chalk drawing and pot up a plant to take home.

Green Corner
Visit our Green Corner to check out some of the Zoo’s green initiatives by meeting some of the Zoo’s suppliers at our Green Corner.

Plus a special performance by the Southern Area Concert Band at midday in the Bandstand on Sunday 13 November.
