The most adorable, four-week old Slender-tailed Meerkat baby is now on display at Melbourne Zoo.
Zoo visitors can now take a look and see the gorgeous, young Meerkat enjoying its new world with proud mum, Pretoria by it's side. Zoo staff are unsure if the new baby is a boy or a girl which is typical of a newborn Meerkat.
At only four weeks this daring, little baby is already eating solid foods consisting of carrots and even worms. The first time parents have already started teaching the baby vital skills that it would need to survive in the wild.
In the wild, Meerkats often live in large groups as they are very territorial. Native to Southern Africa, Meerkats spend much of their time searching for food, digging hundreds of holes and sunbaking. You can see our resident Meerkats doing just that; sitting up on their hind legs and attempting to soak up every last bit of Melbourne's winter sun.
Make a trip to Melbourne Zoo and fall in love with this petite and very cute baby Meerkat today!
