Baby Elephant naming 2

Members vote for Man Jai

Thousands of Zoo Members voted in the online poll to select the winning name for Dokkoon’s second elephant calf, a male born on December 8th.

Environment Minister Ryan Smith announced the winning name today: Mali’s baby brother will be named Man Jai, which is Thai for ‘confident’.

New Baby Bison at Werribee Open Range Zoo

Tatanka, a new baby bison is now on public display at Werribee Open Range Zoo.

The female calf was born on 29 December to first-time mum Leotie and staff are delighted with their progress.

Tatanka is feeding well and Leotie is a wonderful mum.

His 13th birthday ‘cake’ was suitably summery, an icy tower of treats, from green peas to watermelon and berries.

Lady Potter AC, Trustee of the Ian Potter Foundation has named Werribee Open Range Zoo’s new baby hippo.

Lady Potter announced the name on a special visit to Werribee Open Range Zoo yesterday where she spent some time with the cheeky, two month-old calf and mum Brindabella.
