Werribee Open Range Zoo has launched an exciting new school camping experience, Safari Sleep-Overs.
Students will be able to explore the zoo like never before as they spend a night camping in the great outdoors overlooking the vast African plains at Werribee Open Range Zoo.
“Safari Sleep-Overs will capture students’ imaginations and encourage them to explore the world’s grassland habitats and their inhabitants,” Learning Experiences Manager, Kylie Gordon said.
“We’ve created programs for primary and secondary school students that are not only educational but also lots of fun,” Ms Gordon said.
“In the cover of darkness, students will enjoy a range of activities such as radio tracking bandicoots, hippo spotting and wetland walks in search of frogs and other creatures.
“Our happy campers will also enjoy other much-loved camping traditions – barbeques and campfires with hot chocolates and marshmallows.
“Students will sleep under the stars in comfort with 9-person safari tents and drift to sleep listening to the sounds of lions roaring and the rustling of possums.”
Safari Sleep-Overs will operate Monday to Friday from September 2008 to May 2009. School groups from 30 to 60 students with accompanying adults can be accommodated.
