Our landscapers across all 3 zoos have been certified as environmentally friendly.
This environmental certification, known as ECLIPs (Environmentally Certified Landscape Industry Professionals), was established by the non-profit organisation Sustainable Gardening Australia (SGA), with development funding from the Victorian Government's Sustainability Fund.
To meet the standards of ECLIPs, landscape professionals must undergo training in sustainable design, construction and maintenance practices, and be subject to random independent audits of landscapes under construction and those they have completed. These landscape professionals must also ensure they keep up to date with the latest in sustainable practices by attending industry seminars and workshops. SGA also helps to keep professionals up to date with monthly technical bulletins.
Landscape professionals here care about the environment and are willing to do something about it. There are huge opportunities for all of us to incorporate sustainable practices into our everyday living - and that includes our gardens and landscapes.
