Like many of our grassland species, the Eastern Barred Bandicoot is under threat of extinction. Predators such as foxes and cats coupled with the loss of grassland habitats have caused populations to plummet in the wild. Habitat management, predator control and captive breeding programs are core elements to the bandicoot's recovery to the wild.
