Famous faces at Healesville Sanctuary

In April, actor Nicolas Cage together with his family and co-actors made a visit to Healesville Sanctuary. Cage is currently making a new feature movie in Melbourne called ‘Knowing’ directed by Australian, Alex Proyas.

This is the second movie that Cage has made in Melbourne and also the second time he has visited Healesville Sanctuary.

In 2005 while filming ‘Ghost Rider’ in Melbourne, Cage visited the Sanctuary and was particularly impressed by threatened species programs that are managed at the Sanctuary. Following his visit he made a generous donation through the Nicolas Cage Foundation to the conservation of the Tasmanian Devil.

During his recent visit to the Sanctuary, Cage and his family enjoyed a behind-the-scenes visit to the Tasmanian Devil exhibit and also close-up encounter with ‘Millsom’ the Platypus.

It is estimated that the filming of ‘Knowing’ in Melbourne is generating up to 1000 jobs and revenue of up to $45 million for Victoria.
