Zoos Victoria is pleased to announce that we are the first certified Carbon Neutral zoo in the world!
Across our three great zoos environmental sustainability is a major priority as we continue to employ environmentally sustainable practices to reduce our ecological footprint across all areas of our operations.
Certified by Low Carbon Australia Zoos Victoria joins the Carbon Neutral Network through sound carbon reduction on site and securing habitat to protect biodiversity through the purchase of biodiversity offsets.
As a zoo-based conservation organisation, our sustainability focus encompasses habitat protection, pollution prevention and ecologically sustainable and ethical development and construction.
As leaders in wildlife and community conservation, we are uniquely placed to showcase sustainability and will inspire visitors to take action to conserve the natural world by promoting environmentally sustainable behaviours.
Zoos Victoria is constantly updating and improving our environmental programs to instil our position as leaders in sustainable practices across the following areas:

Zoos Victoria works to reduce, re-use and recycle in as many ways as we can, from small-scale worm farming to in-vessel compost.
