Reproduction

Investigate the unique reproductive strategies animals use and how Zoos Victoria is breeding endangered species in captivity

Animals use a wide range of different strategies to successfully reproduce – some straightforward, others quite unusual.

This program explores the mechanisms and processes of reproduction used by animals as varied as frogs, snakes, wombats, baboons and gorillas. Students also investigate reproductive technologies that Zoos Victoria has helped develop and apply to specialised endangered species breeding programs.

On completion of the student trail students can write up a summary report that can be assessed to meet the requirements of the School Assessed Coursework (SAC).
