Volunteer at Healesville Sanctuary

Volunteering with Zoos Victoria provides exciting opportunities in many areas of the Zoo's operations including:

  • Visitor Host

  • Tour Guide

  • Animal Encounters

  • Learning Experiences Assistant

  • Horticulture Assistant

  • Enrichment Construction Assistant

  • Australian Wildlife Health Centre (AWHC) Hospital Assistant

  • AWHC Administration Assistant

Things you need to know:

  • Volunteering with Zoos Victoria does not involve animal keeping duties
  • Volunteers do not receive preference for paid positions
  • Volunteers cannot commence their duties until they have satisfactorily completed the required training
  • We supply a uniform
  • Depending on the task or role there may be a minimum level of commitment set (ie. once a fortnight)

Visitor Host - recruitment open - Applications close on the 15 February 2016, at 5 pm.

Visitor Hosts engage with visitors, welcome them and provide visitor information where required.

Our compulsory core module training will be delivered over two days. You will need to be available to attend our Module 1 training on either March 5 or 6 and our Module 2 training on either March 11 or 12 at Healesville Sanctuary.

If you are unable to attend any of the above dates, we advise you to apply for a role during our next recruitment, scheduled to open in April 2016, with training conducted in May.

Learning Experiences Assistant - recruitment open - Applications close on the 15 February 2016, at 5 pm.

Learning Experiences Volunteers will support zoo educators in delivering fun learning programs for young people aged 5 to 18 years. They will assist with general administration and research tasks and in the delivery of engaging student and teacher programs.

The shifts for this volunteer role occur Monday to Fridays.  Please note that there are no weekend shifts available.

Additional compulsary training is required to undertake the Learning Experiences role and this will be on Sunday 20th March.
