Healesville Sanctuary

Bush Babies

Spring is baby time at Healesville Sanctuary! Which animals will be born or hatched at the Sanctuary? Which animals will be rescued by the wildlife hospital team or placed in our tender loving care?

Visit us this spring to meet some of our beautiful new baby animals and find out about our specialised work in hand-raising and caring for them. The animals you’ll meet could range from rescued babieis, new surrogate mums or young wildlife in need of some extra tender care.

Daily talks and displays will cover all aspects of animal care:

  • Baby Talks: talks 11:00am, 1:30pm and 3:00pm daily
  • Shelter Sundays: wildlife carers visit with their baby animals
(Sundays: 23 September, 30 September and 7 October)
  • Babies on Board: look for the ‘Babies on Board’ signs around the Sanctuary

In the Baby Burrow, you’ll get to see the workings of our hospital nursery and share in the stories of the many injured, orphaned and hand-raised babies. The Burrow will be open daily from 11:00am to 4:00pm during the school holidays. Baby viewing, feeding and general care experiences will be scheduled throughout the day and around the needs of our babies.

On our special Shelter Sundays, local wildlife carers will bring their baby animals for a visit to the hospital and share their amazing work in caring for orphaned, injured and rescued wildlife.

This special program is available during the spring school holidays only and is free with general admission.
