What does a zoo keeper’s day really involve?
Zoos Victoria is a place full of passionate conservationists committed to providing a safe place for species in the future, with over 120 zoo keepers employed to ensure world-class welfare and care is provided to our native Australian, exotic and endangered animals.
These school holidays you can discover what it’s like to work at Healesville Sanctuary and become a Keeper for a Day!
Heading behind-the-scenes, you will get a hands-on experience of what it’s like to work as a zoo keeper as you take part in the many duties our keepers undertake on a daily basis, including food preparation, animal training and enrichment, health checks and exhibit design.
You will get to see our animals up close and speak with some of our keepers about their jobs and experience and learn about the pathways into this exciting and rewarding career.

Keeper for a Day is designed for secondary school students who are interested in caring for wildlife and working at the zoo.

For Year 7-12 students. Covered shoes must be worn. All participants must agree to follow staff instructions.
