Recruitment

We advertise our vacancies on our website and other sources, such as job search websites, newspapers and other websites relevant to the position field.

Recruitment for all our visitor experience positions usually takes place between July and October, leading up to our peak period from November to March.

Applications are processed according to the positions being advertised. We are unable to store applications for prospective vacancies.

The main selection methods we use are Panel Interviews and Assessment Centres.

This is your opportunity to personally convince Zoos Victoria that your skills, experience, interests and potential make you the most appropriate candidate for the role. In turn, we have the opportunity to assess the suitability of your capabilities, experience and fit against the selection criteria for the position.

Assessment Centres

Assessment centres are group interviews that usually take most part of a day. They include a number of different activities that relate directly to the vacant position and can include a brief interview at the end of the day.

Assessment centres are used in our recruitment process and are implemented for any role that involves visitor interaction. Examples are Zookeeper, Education Officer, Horticulturist, Grounds Presentation Staff, Retail Sales Assistant or Visitor Experience Officer.

Assessment centres are designed to find the best candidate in terms of skills, experience and temperament and who are able to enhance the visitors' experience at any of our three great Zoos.
