Melbourne Zoo

Baboon Lookout

Baboon Lookout allows you to encounter our Hamadryas Baboons as you would in the wild – in the open grassland habitat of their new home at the zoo.

Baboon Lookout offers uninterrupted views through glass and across moats. You can watch the baboons play, groom and search for food on their grassland savannah, surrounded by large rocky outcrops, pools and palms.

Baboons are all about family. You’ll learn the challenges of living in a large baboon family (and who’s boss) and you’ll hear the sounds baboons make to communicate with each other. You can also listen to the story of one woman’s life in drought-stricken Kenya, and how you can help the country’s people and wildlife by buying beads from the zoo shops.
