We are committed to ensuring we provide an accessible environment for all our visitors at Melbourne Zoo. We achieve this in a variety of ways.

There are six accessible parking bays near the main entrance of Melbourne Zoo. Seven accessible parking bays are located near the Rail Gate entrance.
There is a bus drop-off point at the main gate and all-day bus parking on the northern side of the Zoo (except school and public holidays, where it is open to all vehicles).
Accessibility for wheelchairs and pushers
Melbourne Zoo has an easy-to-follow pathway system, with access for people using wheelchairs and pushers.
Wheelchairs are also available for free hire. Photographic identification is required.
We recommend you book in advance. Tel: (03) 9285 9300

Our accessible toilets are located at:
- Our main entrance on the way to the Gorilla Rainforest
- The Lakeside Bistro
- Near the rail gate entrance close to the Picnic Pavilion
- Along the main drive near the Orang-utans
- Elephant Village, near the Bong-Su room
Access for assistance animals
Zoos Victoria aims to make its venues as easily and broadly available to all visitors as possible. We welcome visitors with assistance animals (such as guide dogs) that have completed their training and are certified by a registered authority. Please bring your certification I.D. with you.
At each Zoo there are identified exhibits and areas where assistance animals will not be permitted. This is due to quarantine restrictions and safety risks to Zoo animals and staff, or to the assistance animals and their handlers. Admission staff can provide information about these areas as you arrive at our Zoos.
If visitors would like to attend these experiences, they can be escorted by a staff member or volunteer guide and assistance animals can be cared for during that time.
Guide Mobile tours
If you are mobility-impaired, we have Guide Mobile tours available from our friendly Volunteer Guides between 10.30am and 2pm.
The Guide Mobile is an electric vehicle that carries no more than three passengers at any one time. It travels at walking pace, so those unable to ride can join the tour on foot. As this is a Volunteer-led service, Guide Mobile tours are subject to the availability of Volunteers.
Please note there are safety and logistical limitations on when and where the guide mobile can travel through the Zoo grounds. On days of very high visitation (school and public holidays) the Guide Mobile will not run.
The tour runs for approximately one hour. To book a Guide Mobile tour please call the Sales Team on 1300 966 784.
