Celebrate your special day amongst the world’s wildlife at Melbourne Zoo.
Melbourne Zoo provides a unique wedding venue in beautiful natural surrounds, just minutes from the CBD. Our manicured, centuries-old gardens and stunning animal exhibits, designed to reflect the native habitats of our animal community, create the perfect backdrop for your ceremony.
Choose Melbourne Zoo to host your wedding, and you can say ‘I do’ at one of four reception venues or a range of outdoor ceremony sites, each with their own special atmosphere. From smaller more intimate weddings to larger functions, Melbourne Zoo offers a romantic, unforgettable setting for your wedding day.
The Rainforest Room
Inside, the Rainforest Room looks onto the lush greenery of the playful Tamarin monkey habitat. Outside on the terrace, it overlooks the award-winning Japanese Garden and lake. With its light-filled cathedral ceilings, permanent dance floor and private bridal suite, it’s a perfect place for your wedding reception.
The Bong Su Room
Located at the heart of the Elephant Trail, the Bong Su Room is reached through a twisting bamboo forest, with a deck overlooking the elephant pool. Serene, elegant and ideal for animal lovers.
The evening-only Lakeside Bistro overlooks the Zoo’s award-winning Japanese Garden and lake. With its built-in dance floor and gorgeous views, this reception-ready room will see you and your guests dancing the night away in style.
Our newest function room is also our biggest, with room for up to 600 guests (or 240 seated). Overlooking our beautiful gardens and lawns, this flexible venue is within lion’s roar of the big cats’ habitat – a suitably dramatic backdrop for your big day.
Say ‘I do’ in a truly special setting, at any one of our stunning outdoor ceremony sites.
Imagine exchanging your vows by the Japanese Garden and lake, or in the natural surrounds of the Platypus Lawn.
Ask us about your options. We can help you with providing a red carpet, registration tables, chairs and a license for photography within the zoo grounds.
When it comes to choosing a setting for your wedding photos, you’ll be spoiled for choice, with our manicured gardens, South East Asian bamboo forests, and (of course) animals wandering in a natural environment.
Our food is inspired by the influences at our heart: South East Asia, a focus region of Melbourne Zoo, and our Victorian home.
Reflecting this, our menus combine the best of South East Asian food and flavours with the finest Victorian regional produce, and wine sourced from green-focused wineries.
If you have special needs or requests, our chefs can work with you to tailor our restaurant-quality menu for your event.
