Werribee Open Range Zoo has reached a major milestone, surpassing 400,000 visitors for the first time in the zoo's 29 year history.
To celebrate the achievement, the zoo gave away a Slumber Safari family package during Wild Nights to the 400,00th visitor—the Stanix family from Kyneton.
Zoo visitation has soared by almost 40 per cent in the past year, following several exciting zoo developments and programs and the introduction of the ‘kids are free' policy on weekends, public and school holidays.
The zoo has smashed the previous visitation record of 307,195 in 2008/2009.
Together we can improve animal care, reduce threatening processes and save endangered species.
The word ‘hippopotamus’ is Greek for ‘river horse’ and their closest relatives are whales and dolphins. You can help us fight extinction by adopting the hippopotamus.
