Sunday was an exciting day with the cast and crew first screening of the feature film, Healing, filmed at Healesville Sanctuary earlier this year.

Starring Hugo Weaving and directed by Craig Monahan, the film is a tale of redemption based by a true story and the powerful connection forged by humans with birds and animals.

The story has been inspired by the Sanctuary's long running raptor rehabilitation program run in partnership with Justice Victoria.

We provided training to actors working with the birds and some of the Sanctuary’s dedicated raptor keepers and vet team were cast into roles for the film.

“This project has attracted a remarkable cast and crew and we are privileged to be working with them and the dedicated staff at Healesville Sanctuary,“ Mr Monahan told Hollywood Reporter earlier this year.

We had 600 excited Zoos Victoria Members invited to be extras who will see a special advance preview screening early next year. The film is being distributed in Australia by Pinnacle Films and planned release date is early April.
