Talented cyclist Simon Clarke took time out of his punishing training schedule for the 60th Jayco Herald Sun Tour to drop into Healesville Sanctuary and meet Quokka Too and some other Aussie icons.
Simon, winner of the King of the Mountains jersey during last year’s Tour of Spain, will represent the Australian team and is looking forward to racing at home in front of a growing fan base.
After an overnight stay in Bendigo, the 2013 Jayco Herald Sun Tour makes its way across to the spectacular Mitchelton Winery on the banks of the Goulburn River. Stage Two threads its way through rivers and ranges towards the Yarra Valley with a sensational finish in Healesville around 3.30pm.
The sprinters will be keen to impress with some fast racing and sprint points in Seymour and Yea while the climbers will race through the Murrindindi Highlands with back to back King of the Mountain titles before a long fast descent.
The race will finish with a final lap around Healesville, sure to excite the crowd and provide some great racing.
A range of activities will be held in Healesville from 2.00pm - 4.30pm on Saturday, 5 January. Everyone is welcome.
