Hippo Pansy Birthday

Werribee Open Range Zoo has celebrated the first birthday of hippo calf  Pansy.

To mark the milestone on Tuesday 18 November, Pansy and mum Brindabella enjoyed a special watermelon cake created by the Zoo’s volunteers along with some vegetable ice blocks.

Happy 21st to Healesville Sanctuary's oldest Platypus

Wednesday 12 November 2014 was a very special day for our oldest Platypus at Healesville Sanctuary - Fleay turned 21 years old!
Fleay came into the collection as a baby in 1993 and has been the feature display in World of Platypus for the past 21 years.
It is thought that Platypus in the wild live to about 15 years but in captivity they can live into their early 20s.
