While the State welcomed a much needed cool change from the searing heat of the weekend, Werribee Open Range Zoo staff were equally excited to welcome the arrival of two extra special newborns. Przewalski’s Horse, Mahan, gave birth to a colt in the early hours of Monday, 21 December.
Three years ago last month, we moved three beautiful male gorillas to a new home at Werribee Open Range Zoo. Previously Silverback Motaba and his two sons Yakini and Ganyeka had lived at Melbourne Zoo for many years.
In 1978 Zoos Victoria was named the custodian of the bushland adjacent to Healesville Sanctuary, known as the Coranderrk Bushland, prior to this the Coranderrk Bushland was subject to logging and grazing.
