Mali the Asian Elephant joined more than 2,000 ANZ customers and staff on Saturday to celebrate ANZ’s ongoing business partnership with Zoos Victoria. The celebration recognises the enormous contribution ANZ has made to the Zoo.
This week is National Volunteer Week, Australia’s largest celebration of volunteers and volunteerism. Today, there are more than 220 people volunteering annually at Healesville Sanctuary, more than double the Sanctuary’s own staff numbers.
The vet team at Healesville Sanctuary worked overnight to save this baby Platypus found with a rubber band around its neck in Brushy Creek, Croydon. Sadly, vets believe the baby male had also been attacked, possibly by a dog.

The Eastern Bongo baby bounded out into his exhibit at Melbourne Zoo this morning, hot on the heels of his mother Binti. While Binti grazed calmly and enjoyed some crunchy carrots, her calf frolicked around, running and leaping with great energy and agility.
There were some strange squeaking sounds coming from Melbourne Zoo's Reptile House last week.... This was music to the ears of our reptile team who have been eagerly awaiting the hatching of baby Philippine Crocodiles!
It has been many years since Melbourne Zoo has hosted the impressive Hercules moth. A recent delivery of young caterpillars from Queensland can currently be seen in the lifecycle display inside our Butterfly House.
