Keepers put together an impressive layer ‘cake’ made up of 200kg of celery layered with lemon grass and decorated with bright coloured fruit and vegetables, featuring large white radishes as ‘candles’.

There are some new faces on the savannah at Werribee Open Range Zoo, with the team welcoming the arrival of seven Eland calves during the last month.

Found across Southern Africa, Eland are Africa’s largest species of antelope, with males weighing between 400 – 1,000kg.

Lioness Nairibi’s four cubs are now just over two weeks old and getting bigger and stronger each day.

The new family is off display, where Nairibi is able to care for and bond with her cubs in the privacy of a special nesting den.
