Two lionesses have arrived safely in Melbourne this morning on Wednesday 14 May, following a long journey from Givskud Zoo in Denmark.

Harry Hippo will be sadly missed

Sadly Harry the hippo was euthanized at  Werribee Open Range Zoo late on Monday 12 May, following a deterioration of a long-term foot condition.

The ageing hippo had been treated extensively by zoo veterinarians, but it did not prevent his condition from worsening recently.

As Southern White Rhino calf Kipenzi nears her first birthday, staff at Werribee Open Range Zoo are preparing for her next big milestone, full contact with the adult rhinos.

Kipenzi was born on 30 May last year and Vets and Keepers have been hand-raising her since birth.
