Lions on the Edge

Tiptoe over termite mounds, meander past Meerkats and wave to Wild Dogs as you prowl and pounce your way through a trail of tall grasses discovering paw prints and other clues that lions are close by.

Kids can become rangers on patrol as they sit behind the wheel of a safari jeep and come face-to-face with our magnificent pride at Lions on the Edge.

Set amidst the dramatic backdrop of a parched savannah landscape, visitors are immediately immersed into a world where lions and communities of people are living side by side.

As the only true social cats, lions rely on strong family and social bonds communicating loudly and often with one another. A lion’s roar can carry across the land for up to 8km – if you are lucky enough to hear this during your visit it’s a truly breathtaking experience.

A daily Keeper Talk provides an opportunity to learn about lions and the threats to the survival of this species as a result of habitat loss and conflict with humans.

You can also get involved in the Beads for Wildlife conservation program to support wildlife and communities living alongside these magnificent animals.
