At Werribee Open Range Zoo, we cater for every taste and budget – from adults looking for a delicious bistro meal to fussy kids looking for a snack on-the-go, and everything in between.
Where: Just past the Safari Shop
The Meerkat Bistro offers sustainable, seasonal dining at its best, with unique views of African animals at play.
You can sit inside and watch the cheeky meerkats, or take advantage of our large sunny deck and outdoor tables, overlooking the gorilla island exhibit.
The bistro’s delicious meals are freshly made, using local produce whenever possible – including fresh-baked breads and pastries from the Zoo’s in-house bakery and herbs picked from our garden.
The family-friendly menu includes soups served with Zoo bakery rolls, a selection of salads and fresh sandwiches.
The menu also includes more substantial meals, such as handmade burgers.
Accompany your meal with a glass of wine, beer, a quality coffee or an organic hot chocolate.
Our kids’ menu has universal favourites - such as fish and chips, and burger and chips - as well as tasty toasties, fried rice and an array of desserts designed for small stomachs.
Our food philosophy centres on low food miles, sustainable product and producing food on site, whenever we can.
Always aiming to reduce our carbon footprint, our menus are created seasonally to make the most of fresh local produce when it is at its best. We use Victorian hormone-free grass-fed beef, free-range antibiotic-free chicken and free-range eggs.
