Meet the gorilla bachelor boys at Werribee Open Range Zoo. These endlessly fascinating creatures are one of our closest living relatives with a genetic makeup almost 98% similar to humans. Get up close to the gorillas in this experience to see the similarities like never before.

Guided by our keepers you head behind the scenes to the gorillas night dens to get up close with our bachelor boys and learn about the unique dynamics in this group. You will also lend our keepers a hand to help enrich the lives of our gorillas. As these bachelor boys are wild animals every experience will differ slightly, activities will always be scheduled to ensure guests are always provided with the most memorable experience which may include:

  • Activity feed
  • Enrichment activity
  • Training session
  • Discussion about gorilla behaviors and characteristics

Following the behind the scenes experience, our guides will escort you to a VIP window to view the Gorilla Keeper Talk.

Please note: Keeper led activity will vary on a daily basis due to gorilla behaviours. All visitors to the gorilla behind-the-scenes encounter are required to wear face masks in order to protect the gorillas from any human disease risks. Gorillas are one of our closest living relatives with a genetic makeup almost 98% similar to humans which increases their susceptibility to infection from human pathogens.
