Digital Program | Zoos and Behaviour Change
Deep-dive into how psychology concepts can help you to promote pro-conservation behaviour change in a real-world context. Ethics, Zoos and You: Behaviour Change explores science as a human endeavour and provides insights into how psychology skills and knowledge are used in wildlife conservation.
Program Description
VCE Psychology Unit 2
Each program includes a 30-minute online workshop with a Zoo Teacher and a teaching guide filled with activities for your scope and sequence. While not a tour of the zoo, you will have direct access to your own expert Zoo Teacher and unique zoo content.
Students explore key knowledge in Unit two; how Zoos Victoria applies the tri-component model to influence and shape the behaviour of our visitors. Through the analysis of one of Zoos Victoria's community conservation projects, students will consider contemporary research and their understanding of group behaviour, to examine the project and its effectiveness in encouraging visitors to take conservation actions.
Students will learn:
- Factors which influence people to behave in particular ways
- The application of the Tri Component Model of Attitudes in a real life context
- Limitations of the Tri Component Model of Attitudes
- The effectiveness of a Zoos Victoria conservation campaign and the potential barriers
Want to come face-to-face with our incredible wildlife and extend your students' learning in their environment? Book in an excursion to one of our three amazing zoos.
