Zoos Victoria hosts teacher previews, professional development programs and student web conferences to enrich teaching skills and student learning around wildlife.
Programs can include learning theory and its application to zoo experiences, practical classroom activities, pathways to link to other elements of the curriculum and exploring best practice education for wildlife conservation.
Join student web conferences every fortnight during school term where your students can hear from our expert Zoo teachers about the wildlife at the zoo and how we're fighting extinction.
View our upcoming professional development, web conferences and teacher previews at Healesville Sanctuary, Melbourne Zoo and Werribee Open Range Zoo.
Consider hosting your next network meeting or conference at Healesville Sanctuary, Melbourne Zoo or Werribee Open Range Zoo. We can customise a 2-hour, half-day or full-day session with catering, behind the scenes experiences and/or precinct tours. Contact us on 1300 966 784 to discuss.
A web conference is a moderated, online, group event that is broadcast live to your PC, Mac or mobile device using Adobe Connect. Think of it as a mixture of video conferencing, presentation slides, and instant messaging with quizzes and videos thrown into the mix. Simply register your interest for a web conference and we'll email you the conference link one week prior.
It's really easy to join our web conferences - all you need are the following:
- A computer, tablet or smart phone with an internet connection with the latest version of Adobe Flash Player
- Speakers and (ideally) a microphone and webcam if you are connecting via computer
- A class of enthusiastic students ready to ask questions
- If you would like to use a tablet or smartphone, you can download the Adobe Connect Mobile app for free: iTunes Android Blackberry
