Student web conferences

Meet our animals and the zoo experts who keep them happy and healthy without leaving your classroom! You can check out the available Student Web Conferences at the What's On listing

Every year we run a jam-packed program of free virtual learning sessions where we live stream directly to your classroom. We’ll discuss hot-button topics like the ethics of keeping animals in captivity or what we can do to prevent extinction which are closely aligned with the Victorian F-10 Curriculum. Free resources allow you to continue the learning at your own pace afterwards.

It’s a great way to give your students access to the expertise of our passionate zoo staff. Your students can ask questions and interact with the presenters and get a deeper understanding of the real-world application of the skills they’re learning in the classroom.

It’s easy to get involved. All you need is:

  • A computer (hooked up to a screen or interactive whiteboard), tablet or smart phone with a steady internet connection
  • Speakers to hear the presentation
  • If you’re using a computer – the latest version of Adobe Flash Player
  • If you’re using a tablet or smartphone – Adobe Connect app on iTunes (iPads and iPhones) or Google Play (Android devices)
  • You can use a chat box to ask questions and make comments, so you won’t need access to a microphone or camera
