Student web conferences

Talk to Zoos Victoria’s animals and expert Zoo educators as part of our free primary and secondary Fighting Extinction School web conferences. These interactive sessions explore how to care for animals through Zoo Victoria’s community projects.

You will need:

  • A computer, tablet or smart phone with a steady internet connection
  • Speakers to hear the presentation
  • If you’re using a computer – the latest version of Adobe Flash Player
  • If you’re using a tablet or smartphone – Adobe Connect app on iTunes (iPads and iPhones) or Google Play (Android devices)

You will use a chat box to ask questions and make comments.

  • Thursday 23 August – Lions on the Edge

    Lions are the apex predator in the grassland food web of Kenya, however due to human competition, the grassland food web they rely upon is being threatened. Find out how Zoos Victoria is working to provide an alternative income for communities in northern Kenya to help create wildlife friendly communities.

Term 4 2018

  • Thursday 18 October – Safe Cat, Safe Wildlife

    Find out how to keep cats at home in a safe and fun space that helps them thrive. You will learn about why it’s important to keep cats inside and how this also helps protect native wildlife. Zoos Victoria and RSPCA Victoria are working together on this special community project.

  • Thursday 20 November – Raising Rhinos

    Werribee Open Range Zoo is home to a herd of Southern White Rhinoceros, a species under threat because of poaching for their horn. You will learn what it takes to care for the rhinos at Werribee Zoo and what the rangers are doing at Ziwa Sanctuary in Africa to help rhinos in the wild.
