Students will work together to analyse the Zoos Victoria's "Bubbles not Balloons" community conservation project. They will then collaborate with zoo experts on a plan to implement a similar community-based project at school.

Program description

Students will take a closer look at Zoos Victoria’s “Bubbles not Balloons” community conservation campaign, which engages the community in the environmental issue of plastics in our oceans.

They will discover how Zoos Victoria created this campaign to help save species in ocean habitats and use a similar process to address this issue within their own school community.

This community conservation framework can be extended by VCAL teachers at school, to cater for individual student needs and meet all outcomes within PDS Units 1 or 2.

Students will learn:

  • The process Zoos Victoria employs when creating community conservation projects
  • How to develop and implement a project which addresses an environmental issue within their school community
