This professional development has been designed for early childhood educators who want to include Science, nature play, storytelling, and Aboriginal cultures in their learning programs.
Join us for individual workshops or complete the whole series. Here’s the 2023 Calendar.

Nature Play and Storytelling (Early Childhood)
Melbourne Zoo
Tuesday 21 March 2023, 9.30-3.00
During this one-day workshop, you will:
- Learn how to embed nature play and storytelling in your teaching
- Experience how nature play and storytelling can be used to teach Science
- Explore Melbourne Zoo and discover how to teach about animals
- Talk with Zoo Teachers and other early childhood educators
Recognition: certificate for 5 hours of PD
Australian Professional Standards for Teachers: 3.2, 6.2, 7.4

Nature Play in Everyday (Early Childhood)

During this online PD, you will:
- Learn how to teach nature play and science in any outdoor space
- Discover how to connect children with animals and their homes
- Watch behind-the-scenes zoo videos
Recognition: certificate for 1 hour of PD

Nature Play and Aboriginal Cultures (Early Childhood)
Healesville Sanctuary
Thursday 20 July 2023, 9.30-3.00
During this one-day workshop, you will:
- Learn how to include Aboriginal cultures in outdoor activities
- Experience Aboriginal storytelling and nature play
- Explore Healesville Sanctuary and connect to Australian animals
- Talk with Sanctuary Teachers and other early childhood educators
Recognition: certificate for 5 hours of PD
