This professional development has been designed for Foundation-Year 2 teachers who want to take their Science curriculum to the next level.

Join us for individual workshops or complete the whole series. Here’s the 2023 Calendar.

Teach Science Outside (Foundation-Year 2 Science)

Werribee Open Range Zoo
Wednesday 5 April 2023, 9.30-3.00

During this one-day workshop, you will:

  • Learn how to teach about animal features, habitats and life cycles
  • Experience outdoor lessons through the eyes of a student
  • Explore Werribee Zoo and develop your Science skills
  • Talk with Zoo Teachers and other classroom teachers

Recognition: certificate for 5 hours of PD
Australian Professional Standards for Teachers: 2.1, 6.2, 7.4

Nature Play in Science (Foundation-Year 2 Science)

During this online PD, you will:

  • Learn how to teach hands-on Science lessons using nature play experiences
  • Discover how to use outdoor spaces to teach about animals
  • Watch behind-the-scenes zoo videos

Recognition: certificate for 1 hour of PD

During this one-day workshop, you will:

  • Learn how to use narratives to teach about animal features, life cycles and homes
  • Experience activities that weave together Science and storytelling
  • Explore Melbourne Zoo and develop your Science communication skills
  • Talk with Zoo Teachers and other classroom teachers

Recognition: certificate for 5 hours of PD
