Program Description

These free Virual Excursion programs are mapped to the Victorian Curriculum and can be used as part of a longer learning unit or a week’s classes. Zoos Victoria is offering these free virtual excursions during the time of remote learning.

You will use a teaching framework called ‘Connect – Understand – Act’:

  • Connect – powerful experiences that transform the way a student thinks and feels about their world
  • Understand – the cycle of repeated practice that transforms new skills and knowledge from working memory into long-term memory
  • Act – applying what has been learnt in real-world contexts, which leads to mastery

Your students will also participate in a free 30-minute webinar run by a Zoo teacher. In this workshop, they will gain new knowledge and have the opportunity to ask lots of questions. Multiple webinars will be offered during the week so you can choose one that fits your timetable.
