Our Donors - The Yulgilbar and Ian Potter Foundation Story
Zoos Victoria is a not-for-profit organisation and we rely on the support of our generous donors to do much of our work engaging the community in fighting wildlife extinction. As part of our new Lion Gorge exhibit at Melbourne Zoo, the DigestED learning place will engage up to 100 school students at time in the plight of some of the world’s most threatened animals including the lion, Philippines Crocodile and African Wild Dog. The Yulgilbar Foundation & Ian Potter Foundation have been the main funders behind the construction of DigestEd. This is their story…
DigestEd, will play an important role in the Zoo’s extensive education programs. The state-of-the art facilities will highlight the crucial role of top-order predators in various ecosystems. The centre will host thousands of students at a time in a unique learning space where they can be inspired by their surroundings and each other to fight wildlife extinction.
Long-time supporters of the Zoo, the Yulgilbar Foundation provided a matched grant to go towards the development of the facilities, while the Ian Potter Foundation, having supported the original classrooms at Melbourne Zoo in the mid-1970s, were very pleased to continue support of the education program with the Digest-ED facility.
This learning space is sure to inspire the future conservationist of tomorrow.
