A dream within a dream, a mystery born from an innocent adventure. In Peter Weir's adaptation of Joan Lindsay's story, the girls from Appleyard College – and their teachers – pull on their lace and stockings for a Valentine's Day picnic. In the mysterious, hidden crevices of Hanging Rock, girls go missing and no search parties or cries of, "Mirandaaaaaa!" can bring them back. A hallmark of the gothic horror genre, 'Picnic at Hanging Rock' blends all that is eerie about the Australian bush with all that white settlers fail to understand or choose to ignore about its unseen mysteries.
