Will the animals be fine with the sound of the movies?

Providing for the wellbeing of animals is a priority, and planned events such as Zoo Summer Cinema are carefully considered to ensure that any potential risks to our animals are minimised. This includes consideration of sound levels, lighting and potential effects of changed routines.

Our animal habitats provide complex environments and choices; so animals can choose to move towards or away from stimuli such as sounds. Animals in our zoos are habituated to a range of sounds, sights and activities throughout their day, and our experienced animal care staff closely monitor the wellbeing of animals every day.

During events such as movie nights, animals behaviours will be monitored to determine any impacts on animals. While some animals may seek out quieter areas of their habitats; some are actually intrigued by the sights and sounds of events.
