Exciting new zoo entrance!
Plenty of exciting building activity is underway at Werribee Open Range Zoo.
Construction work has just begun on the new $4.2 million Visitor Arrivals Precinct which will deliver an additional 400 car park spaces, a new arrivals area complete with external café and amenities, an enhanced interactive retail area and a satellite Wyndham City Council Visitor Information Centre.
When visitors arrive in the car park, they will hear the sounds of Africa and be guided by cut-out savannah animals which will lead them to the spacious new Arrivals Area. There will be quirkier signage and a sense of fun and discovery from the moment you arrive at the zoo.
The new ticketing area will ensure faster entry, especially for zoo members who will use the VIP fast-track entry, allowing them to bypass queues.
Or visitors may prefer to relax prior to entering the zoo and enjoy a coffee in the new arrivals area which will feature rest areas and shade.
Works will take several months to complete but will have minimal impact on visitor experience. The Precinct is expected to open in the second half of 2013.
