Students recycle bags for Burramys

10 August 2011

Nunawading Christian School recently visited Healesville Sanctuary and participated in our Bags for Burramys program.

Burramys (Mountain Pygmy Possums) are under threat from climate change as they rely on snow cover to hibernate during the winter months.

The students collected plastics coded 2, 4 and 5 (including plastic bags!) back at school and bought them into the Sanctuary for our Bags for Burramys collection bin. These plastics will eventually be taken to Replas to form a recycled plastic seat for our Sustainability Garden.

It is great to see kids take action for climate change!
