Taking fighting extinction to our city streets
Last week, Zoos Victoria took their fight against extinction to Melbourne's city streets!
Joining forces with a variety of street artists and armed with a collection of spray cans, step ladders and a list of native species facing extinction; the troupe took to redeveloping ACDC Lane, in Melbourne over the long weekend.
The artists, mostly from Everfresh studio were relying on iPhone pics to guide them, covering the entire side of Cherry Bar in ACDC Lane in a huge laneway art mural—including Tasmanian Devils, Leadbeater's Possum, honeyeaters, bats, a Platypus paradise and a MEGA Baw Baw Frog.
Many Victorians would not know the Leadbeater's Possum is our faunal emblem! So before we can ask people to take action to help save these incredible species, we need to introduce these animals to the world!
Make sure you check out the public artwork next time you're in the city—it's free and can be found just off Flinders Lane. Get to know each of these amazing animals and encourage your friends and family to love their local wildlife and join the fight against extinction.
