Snow Leopard Leon visited the Zoo’s veterinary surgery this morning for treatment of a broken canine tooth.   

Veterinary dental specialist Dr. Steve Coles found that the nerve of Leon’s broken tooth was still alive, so he didn’t need to perform a root canal filling.

Kanzi celebrated her second birthday this morning, sharing her party treats with mother Kimya, father Otana, and ‘auntie’ Yuska.

Primate Keepers were well prepared for the party, with boxes for Kanzi to open and play with, goodies such as nuts and sultanas, and an icy birthday cake.

Werribee Open Range Zoo have welcomed a new arrival to the Waterbuck herd, with a female calf born to mum Kumuka and dad Hide on 20 January.

The young calf has been named Acacia by Zoo Keepers and is the first to be born this year.
