Visiting Werribee Open Range Zoo provides a unique opportunity to see, connect with and learn about Western Lowland Gorillas.
The Zoo is currently home to a bachelor group consisting of three silverbacks, living in our spectacular 6,000 square metre exhibit which features lush vegetation, undulating hills and sweeping views.
The design of the exhibit ensures visitors have the best vantage points from several viewing areas to watch these magnificent creatures as they forage, groom, climb and relax.
An elevated play space mirroring one of the gorillas’ climbing areas is the perfect hang out for little visitors to climb and play just like the gorillas.
Daily Keeper Talks will inspire you to learn more about the threats faced by gorillas in the wild, and what actions we can all take to help protect them and their precious, natural habitat.
One of the biggest threats to gorilla habitat is the illegal mining of coltan, a mineral that is used in mobile phones and electronic devices.
Becoming part of our community conservation campaign, They're Calling on You, helps raise both awareness and vital funds for the work of Gorilla Doctors through the resale and refurbishment of damaged and unused mobile phones.
