An unforgettable evening to fight wildlife extinction

Spend an incredible night out with some of the world’s most iconic animals. Adventure onto the Savannah for a guided sunset tour, enjoy cocktails and canapes at Hippo Beach, feast with friends on a traditional African braai BBQ, and delight in an immersive performance that showcases the rhythm of Africa.

Proceeds from Sunset Safari help Zoos Victoria support international conservation partners such a Rhino Fund Uganda

This experience is currently operating with a COVIDSafe plan in place, if you’ve done this experience before, it may be a little different this time around (but no less fun!)

Tour the Savannah with an expert Safari Guide

Adventure through the Savannah in the warm hues of sunset and get up close to some of the world’s most impressive animals. Keep an eye out for Werribee Open Range Zoo’s much-loved rhinos Kipenzi, Letaba and Si Si as you roam across the plains past our herds of giraffe and zebras.

Move to the sounds of Africa

Immerse yourself in the rhythm and soul of Africa during a performance of drums, song and dance. Feel inspired to jump up and join in as the beat takes over and the music moves you.

Indulge in cocktails and an African-inspired BBQ

Enjoy a selection of cocktails and a BBQ dinner at Hippo Beach, or à la carte dining in the Meerkat Bistro with both indoor and outdoor seating available.

All food and drink sold separately.

Explore the walking trail (new!)

For the first time, Sunset Safari guests will be able to explore the walking trail throughout the Zoo at dusk. See meerkats, lions, monkeys, wild dogs, hippos and cheetah like never before as the sun goes down.

Help save Africa's rhinos

Rhino Fund Uganda has been working hard to breed a sustainable and wild population of Southern White Rhinos and protect them from the poachers who sadly still pose a serious threat to the future of these beautiful animals in Africa.

Due to global travel restrictions in 2020 and 2021, the income that Rhino Fund Uganda relies on from tourists has disappeared and they are now more reliant than ever on donations to ensure the armed rangers that provide 24/7 protection to their rhinos can continue.

Please make a tax-deductible donation to Rhino Fund Uganda and help them ensure we never lose these animals to extinction.
