Make a donation
Right now, the Western Lowland Gorilla is critically endangered.
In 20 years, they could become extinct. Zoos Victoria is working to change their story but we need your help!
Why make a donation?
Zoos Victoria is a not-for-profit organisation
More than 20% of Australia’s wildlife is threatened with extinction. Habitat loss, introduced species, disease and the impacts of climate change are increasing pressure on our unique native wildlife.
Zoos Victoria cares for more than 350 species of animals and 1500 botanical specimens. Many of these species are listed as endangered, some critically.
Although we receive some funding from the state government, we rely on financial support from the community to provide 70% of the funds required for our vital conservation work. We aim to be the world’s leading zoo-based conservation organisation and the conservation of wildlife and wild places is at the forefront of everything we do.
Your donation assists our keepers, research scientists and field workers to:
- Breed with endangered species
- Support recovery programs
- Foster community awareness and raise support
- Continue research in reproduction and reintroduction
Your donation will be tax deductible and will contribute to providing the very best case to all our animals across our three zoos – Healesville Sanctuary, Melbourne Zoo and Werribee Open Range Zoo.
Where does you money go?
$60 can go towards providing enrichment items such as food, toys, paint and canvas to ensure the gorillas are stimulated
$120 can help establish a sensory herb garden for food and further enrichment
$250 can help fund six monthly veterinary health checks for the gorillas
