Education for Conservation
Imagine a place where students can experience the world’s unique wildlife, meet experts in science, animal husbandry, education and research and be challenged with real-world conservation issues impacting wildlife around the world.
Through our learning programs, professional development opportunities, teacher community and Youth at the Zoo, we aim to instil a lifetime appreciation for wildlife and the environment in every student and teacher we meet. We provide access to conservation resources and issues at local and global levels, world-class wildlife experiences, and ongoing expert support before, during and after your school visit.
Zoos Victoria Education is based on four key elements:
Authentic – students have access to real-life conservation issues and are provided with opportunities to take actions that have proven benefits to help protect wildlife across the globe.
Engaging – revolutionary and proven learning opportunities are provided that will absorb and involve students throughout their zoo experience.
Unique – unmatched wildlife opportunities that heighten emotional connections and conceptual understandings of conservation are offered to students.
Integrated – ensuring that student experiences are connected to relevant education learning outcomes.
