There’s always something to see and do, no matter what the weather, but here are some helpful tips for when it’s really hot, raining or really cold.

Cold days

Pack your beanies and scarves, the Sanctuary is a great place to visit on cold days when it’s a little quieter. There are also some places you shouldn’t miss:

  • The Reptile House
  • The Nocturnal House
  • Land of Parrots
  • Kangaroos
  • Koalas
  • Platypus

Rainy days

You can avoid the crowds on rainy days while also seeing lots of animals play in the rain. If you want to stay out of the rain, visit these under-cover exhibits or play spaces:

  • The Reptile House
  • Platypus
  • Echidnas (next to Koala Forest)
  • Pouch House
  • Nocturnal House
  • Harvest Cafe

Ponchos and umbrellas are available in the retail shop.

Hot days

Many Australian animals are known for thriving in the heat, make sure you don’t miss seeing these animals in their natural environment:

  • Kangaroos
  • Koalas
  • Dingoes
  • Platypus

Find Sanctuary at the Sanctuary under our misters on our Koala Picnic and Australian Wildlife Health Centre lawns!

Find relief from the heat in the Platypus House, Reptile House or the Nocturnal House.

Take a break and grab an ice-cream or cold drink and enjoy in air conditioned comfort at Harvest Café. There are also water refill stations around the Sanctuary to keep hydrated.

Don’t forget to bring hats and sunscreen or purchase from our retail shop!
