One of only two migratory parrot species, every autumn Orange-bellied Parrots fly to the south-east coast of mainland Australia to overwinter before making the journey back to Tasmania in spring. Facing many threats, it is one of Australia’s most imperilled species. Zoos Victoria is playing a key role in the species recovery, maintaining insurance population, researching their migration, and supporting annual release and over-winter ranching of this beautiful species.
